Brian Erbis, a former NYPD detective with a distinguished 23-year career, specializes in financial crime investigations, physical security, and organizational consulting.
Constantly seeking knowledge, Brian believes in the continuous pursuit of education both for personal and professional growth. He actively writes and publishes on various topics, particularly focusing on organizational hypocrisy, fraud, waste, and abuse.

Residing in Brooklyn, New York, with a second home in Reno, Nevada, Brian has a rich history in various New York locales, including New York City, Long Island and western New York. He is currently expanding his professional footprint to northern Nevada. His diverse interests include reading, traveling, snow skiing, boating, hiking, and camping.
Brian holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Criminal Justice from John Jay College, focusing on fraud examination, and is presently pursuing a Master of Public Administration degree with a specialization in Inspection and Oversight. He also holds a Certified Fraud Examiner certification from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE).
A graduate of the NYPD Police Academy in 1996, Brian has completed numerous courses in investigations and fraud examination and other policing related matters. His skill set includes surveillance, self-defense, criminal and civil investigations, interviews and interrogations, fraud examination, and emergency vehicle operations.
During his tenure at the NYPD, Brian worked in uniformed, plainclothes and detective roles--handling a wide array of cases, particularly in the fraud realm. His service in the NYPD Special Frauds Squad led to numerous successful investigations and prosecutions. He has experience in locating and extraditing perpetrators across the U.S. for various cases.
Brian's experience extends beyond law enforcement; he worked for nine years in corporate security at SiriusXM in New York City, product protection as a contractor for Apple and as a security director for a Section 8 housing complex.
He is the proprietor of Brian Erbis Consulting, LLC, a multifaceted enterprise offering private investigation services including organizational efficiency, internal controls, security and investigation consulting, certified fraud examination and mystery shopping.
Brian eagerly embraces opportunities to offer his expertise through paid and pro bono consulting roles on a case by case basis.
